Impact of Gender Inequality

Impact of Gender Inequality

I was wondering for the last few days, why is there gender inequality and imbalance in this country?. and around the world. Why do people still differentiate between men and women? Why?

Early infancy is the beginning of both gender bias and the subsequent practice of gender discrimination. Girls and boys, from the minute they are born, are subjected to gender norms that are unequal in terms of the expectations placed on them as well as their access to resources and opportunities. This has effects that last a lifetime for them in their homes, schools, and communities.

Gender equality is a human right and vital for a peaceful, wealthy, and sustainable planet.

We have seen changes in the last few decades like more girls going to school now, fewer girls being pushed into early marriage, more women serving in parliament and leadership posts, and laws being amended to improve gender equality.

Despite these improvements, many challenges remain: discriminatory legislation and societal norms are pervasive, women are underrepresented at all levels of political leadership, and 1 in 5 women and girls aged 15 to 49 report physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner in the past year.

Let’s look at some happenings around Gender Equality around the world!!

My Thoughts!!

Gender equality and environmental goals are complementary. Women are more affected by environmental deterioration due to socioeconomic and discriminatory issues. Women’s “green” choices could help transition to a

#lowcarbon economy.

The gender-environment nexus can be understood by recognizing how delayed progress on environmental goals affects women and men differently and hinders gender equality, and how gender equality and women’s empowerment can bring good environmental consequences to the 2030 Agenda.
